I left a comment here, but it seems to have poofed out of existence.

I agree that we have forgotten who and what we are. Poetry can also show us that we have forgotten. Of course, poetry is art, too.

Interesting idea that some fear art because they fear God.

This is, as always, an inspired post. Yes, we have forgotten who and what we are. I think poetry has the same power to show us that we have forgotten (of course, poetry IS art).

DebraAnn- Thanks for your beautiful comments! You made me think of my post in a new way. I checked out your blog and I was not surprised to find that you are a beautiful writer & artist... I'm adding you to my links.

Emily- I tried to comment on your blog, but you need a Xanga account. I love your CS Lewis quote.

Wow this struck a chord with me. I am an artist come lately. I have been doing needlework all my life but it is only in the last few years that I allowed myself to express it. There are times when I am embroidering that I am so taken by the beauty of what's happening to me that I weep. Thank you for explaining it to me.

I love what you do with mysticism here. The St. John of the Cross passage was new to me, though it shouldn't have been. The Tauler delighted me. Tauler was one of the students of 13th century Dominican mystic Meister Eckhart, on whom I recently wrote a paper. I'll have to thank DancingSun/Sue O'Kieffe again for sending me this way. Peace!
